Not today I would talk to you about happiness.

Doesn't that sound encouraging or joy, happiness or joy? And this is something that is really not optional for believers. I will say

before I was converted when I was having questions back in the early 70s.

I used to ask people if they were happy.

And you know my friends, I didn't just stop people on the street.

But I would ask people, are you happy? I mean really deeply happy?

And no one said yes to me. They all said no I'm not happy. And I really wondered

if it just we were not supposed to be happy or like what the problem was.

And the scripture has so many references to happiness.

So I'm just going to hit a few of these for you from the first couple from Psalms and more from proverbs. Psalm 14415. Happy are the people who are in such a state. Happy are the people

whose God is the Lord. And happy can also be translated, as I understand, blessed, or happy.

Psalm 146.5, Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God.

Then Proverbs 1620,

He who heeds the word wisely will find good

and whoever trusts in the Lord happy is he.

Proverbs 2814 happy is the man who is always reverent,

but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

Proverbs 2918, but happy is he who keeps the law.

And Proverbs 313,

happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding.

And Proverbs 1421, he who has mercy on the poor, happy as he, and then Job 517, behold, happy is the man whom God
