Summary

Hello and welcome to episode 259 of The Mindful Kind podcast.

In this episode, you'll learn about resting for success, including a powerful practice called analytical meditation, which I learned from Dr Sanjay Gupta's amazing book called Keep Sharp.

Here's to how to practice analytical meditation yourself:

- Sit down somewhere quiet, close your eyes and picture a problem you haven’t solved or even a meaningful topic you’d simply like to focus on.

- Spend 5-10 minutes thinking about your chosen topic. Focus your attention on it, look at it from new angles, brainstorm potential solutions in your mind, and visualise what you hope to achieve.

- If anything important comes to mind, you might like to spend some time writing down you insights after the meditation. And if not, that’s ok, too. You’ve still taken some meaningful time to rest and that’s worth celebrating!

Thank you so much for listening and I hope you have a wonderful week, Mindful Kind.

Hello and welcome to episode 259 of the Mindful Kind podcast. In this episode, I'm really excited

0:31.7

to talk about how to rest in a meaningful way so you can boost your chances of success. Let me just start by admitting that

0:40.1

sometimes I create these podcast episodes based on what I think I need to hear. Life has been really

0:46.7

full in my little part of the world lately. My partner, Deck and I are saving for our first home,

0:52.6

so we've been taking on as much work as we can.

0:56.1

My online business has been growing quite quickly and I've had to start seriously prioritising

1:00.9

because I just don't have enough time to get everything done.

1:05.2

Deck and I are also trying to improve our health, so we've been doing lots of cooking,

1:10.2

workouts and some Pilates and yoga.

1:13.2

And I've been carving out time for learning and fun because I know I need to balance out my work.

1:18.4

So I've started dancing again using an online dance class service. And I've also been researching

1:25.4

women's health and hormones and taking lots of notes while

1:28.7

starting to make some changes based on what I have been learning. So even though life does feel

1:34.9

full at the moment, I'm really happy that we've been prioritising things like exercise and having

1:40.7

fun. But one thing I haven't really made much time for is rest, and I'm starting to feel

1:47.3

it. I've been going to bed around 9pm lately, feeling exhausted and falling asleep really quickly.

1:54.3

I haven't had the energy or creativity to write new articles for Medium and my own blog,

2:00.3

even though I used to really enjoy it.

2:02.7

I've been feeling a little bit more distracted and forgetful than usual,
