In July of 2008, I was taking a road trip across the southern United States.

I only had a couple of weeks before I would begin university, and I had just moved on

from a breakup.

So I decided to go on a solo road trip before summer break ended.

My plan was to begin in Nashville, Tennessee, camp at some national parks in Alabama, go to

a beach or two in Florida, then finish it all off with Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

At this point of the trip, I was in Alabama.

The first national park I intended to go to in Alabama was the Bancad National Forest,
