The And the Almost a year to the day of me writing this I experienced one of the worst and most traumatic experiences of my entire life.

Please bear with me as I try to tell this story the best I can.

I'm not the greatest writer, unfortunately.

I think this may be the first time I've written anything since I was in high school.

My best friend and I decided to go on a hike.

The weather was not ideal.

It was raining and cold.

And personally, I love the rain. Mix that with the beautiful autumn trees and I'm all

in. It was also a Tuesday afternoon. We figured everyone would be working on a Tuesday.

We found a trail that would interest us and we made the 40 minute drive.

When we arrived we instantly got excited.

There wasn't one car parked there and we knew that it was going to be slow due to the weather and the weekday, but we didn't expect it to be this empty.

The idea of having the entire forested area to ourselves was an awesome one and we were pumped.

A few minutes into our hike a friend noticed

something weird. I didn't notice anything but he was looking through the trees

like he saw a person or something. I asked what it was and he pointed roughly 20 feet away and said,

right there, tell me that doesn't look like a person. It's like a face staring right at us.

After a few seconds I saw what he was talking about. It was weird and it did look like a person.

We kept walking on the trail because whatever the weird face was that we saw, it wasn't moving.

I told him it was most likely some type of optical illusion. You know, nature's weird like that.

As we got closer to the face face it became clear what it was. It was a mask

that had been nailed to the tree. It wasn't directly on the path either. If you hadn't noticed
