The topic of today's show is something that we haven't talked about in the 5 plus years

that this podcast has been running and that is muzzle loaders.

I am new to muzzle loaders, have not shot one and until earlier this year I had never

really even looked into them.

But for many reasons which you hear about in the show, I kind of have some interest and

I wanted to learn about why you should consider hunting with a muzzle loader and also how

to get started.

Our guest today is John McAdams from the Big Game Hunting blog and he himself has gone

through a journey over several years on getting into muzzle loader hunting in multiple

states with multiple species and has done a lot of research firsthand with muzzle loaders

and writing about the topic as well.

Earlier this summer John actually wrote two parts articles for the Exo Mountain Gear

blog, one is why you should start hunting with a muzzle loader and the other is how to

start hunting with a muzzle loader.

And so we'll show those links in the show description but we also wanted to follow up

with a discussion with John and put it in this kind of podcast format to learn how to get

started with muzzle loaders.

I will say right off the bat this is a great primer.

If you have some experience in muzzle loaders you'll hear about some of the basics that you

may already know as well as dive deeper into some topics that you may not know.
