Summary

Did you know there are practices that can actually help you slow your thoughts? Doesn’t seem like something you would need to practice but I sure do crave a calm mind. My guest today is a big fan of slowing it on down and bringing rest and togetherness back into the human experience. We talked some about our perspectives as working moms and some about ways to create mutually beneficial and empowering relationships with the POC in your life. You’re going to love Ashlee Eiland for her wisdom, grace, and her adorable laugh!

Ashlee is a leader, pastor, writer, and Bible teacher who exists to join God in His redemptive work here on Earth. Her work has one purpose: to help humanity build bridges back to the Truth of who God is and between one another in redemptive, healing relationship. Her passion for Scripture, family, writing, elevating women in the Church, and the holy journey of adoption are core to who she is. Ashlee serves as Formation & Preaching Pastor at Mars Hill Bible Church in Grand Rapids. She and her husband, Delwin, have three kids, Brooklyn, Myles, and Journey.

WHAT WE CHAT ABOUT:
  • Ashlee’s 3 kids who Ninja Warrior everywhere and create paint masterpieces on her carpet
  • being intentional with your time, but holding it loosely
  • seeing interruptions as opportunities to practice internal peace vs. external contentment
  • slowing down with Ignatian spirituality and breath prayer
  • the example Ashlee’s mom set as a working mom
  • encouragement for working moms about changing your mind
  • taking a break vs. doing something life-giving when you feel frayed
  • Ashlee’s work with juveniles being tried as adults
  • persisting when your efforts to show kindness don’t go the way you want them to
  • being faithful in the small things that over time create progress
  • creating mutually beneficial and empowering relationships with the POC in your life
