This one's from Simon Thompson and it's entitled Sergeant Tom.

Surely before he died my mum's partner related to me the following story.

Sergeant Tom was in the RISC during the Second World War.

He was a driver, not a common skill set in rural East Yorkshire before the war and upon

being drafted into the RISC he quickly rose up the ranks to Sergeant.

Tom's unit was supporting a tank regiment who were reforming and working up for Normandy

in the wilds of the North Yorkshire Mores and Tom's job was driving scamble fuel trucks.

Just before the 6th of June the armour moved south and Tom and his drivers with them.

About the 7th or 8th of June Tom drove his truck off the landing ship and up the beach
