Tula Coomes returned home at age 15 from boarding school in the United Kingdom to Zimbabwe, Africa, to discover that her grandmother–the woman who was her mother, her father, who was everything to her–did not even know who Tula was. Something had to change. She used her own trauma as she became a mental health nurse. She was born into a life of poverty in Africa, where she was raised by her grandparents.
