Summary

Hi Beauties,
This week on Beauty Bytes with Dr. Kay: Secrets of a Plastic Surgeon, we talk about prebiotics and how they're beneficial for your skin. Prebiotics are types of dietary fibers that sustain the beneficial microorganisms in the gut. During the process of digestion, prebiotics cannot be broken down because they are non-living, fermented carbohydrates. However, this fiber helps the gut bacteria produce nutrients for the colon cells, which ultimately leads to a healthier digestive system. Prebiotics help offset factors that lead to redness, dryness, and aging. By applying Prebiotics to the skin, Probiotics thrive, keeping the surface of the skin balanced, youthful, and strong. flora and our GI tract. I think you've all heard about probiotics that you get from yogurt,

from kombucha, from various

prebiotic is, prebiotics are very important to your diet.

They're types of dietary fibers that help sustain the beneficial microorganisms of your gut.

1:20.4

And during the process of digestion, prebiotics don't get broken down easily because they are non-living and they are very fibrous and they're

1:30.4

very good for sustaining the important bacteria that populate the gut. If you look at the average

1:37.7

American gut, you'll find that people have very few strains of bacteria, maybe like 40 to 50

1:43.5

strains in the average unhealthy American

gut. As we eat a diet that's rich in prebiotics and more plant-based foods, we can get

up to 150 strains of beneficial bacteria in our GI tracts. So it's really important to start

thinking of adding these things to your diet. We really want to

make the precursors for probiotics have an environment that they can live in and thrive in because

2:11.4

that's how you get that synergistic effect of really balanced GI activity. That spills over into improved digestion and that

spills over it to improved vitality energy and skin glow I love it for the
