A few days later I received orders to proceed to England immediately, and before leaving

I said goodbye to General Hopkinson.

He wished me good luck on my venture and said, do all you can to make them see the real

importance of airborne operations.

How much can be done if one has aircraft and training?

I will, sir.

It was in the middle of the Salisby plain, and although it had several huts laid out to

suit the squadrons of the Glider Pilot Regiment, it created an entirely wrong atmosphere.

A very high standard of discipline and a spree decor have been established in this camp,

but there is discipline, and now the difficulty was to show those at home that a new approach

to the subject was necessary.
