Considering I'm doing a few regression related podcasts this month, I figured I'd answer

this question at the top.

It came from at shift work life and it says, probably one that you get often.

Why the term positive regression instead of progression?

And it's a very logical question, but the reason to use positive regression instead

of progression is because positive regression is telling you that a player or a team or

anything really is returning to a former state.

The term progression tells us that a player is going to perform at a higher level altogether,

that he's going to progress and move forward.

But that's not what we're talking about here.

Negative regression candidates aren't candidates who are going to be better at football.

Their players who statistically are going to see their numbers get better without any

change in ability.

So let's use the golf example that I talked about on my podcast from Tuesday.

I'm a low 90s golfer.

I play bogey golf.
