It's Sean Strickland title reign time.

What a, well, what's the word? I was going to say,

exciting fight? No. Good fight? No. Surprising fight? A little.

Complete vindication of several of my theories about fighting Hamza. I should have just written

the fucking killing the king. I've been talking about this stuff on the podcast for ages.

But Sean Strickland came out, did Sean Strickland things, and won the fight. It was close. It was a split decision.

And if you look at the MMA Decisions.com, basically split down the middle who people thought won.

It wasn't super convincing. But a great case for like how vibes based a lot of stuff is.

If your vibe has been that you've been running through everyone, then the guy gets up in the

first round every time you take him down and you go into round two and you fail your first

take down and you pull guard.

And then every subsequent round, you're just trading jabs.

Even if you're not really getting much worse of the striking,

by appearances you are losing quite badly because you should have been

grappling all over this man if it was going your way.

But a very strange fight.

Lots of stuff we talked about in the preamble came up. Basically, there was a lot more

intrigued to this fight than I think a lot of people allowed themselves to admit, because

Sean Strickland has always been very good at getting up from underneath people. Very hard to

hold down. The downside of it was that he has sort of an attrition-based game, sucks at landing anything with power.
