In today's podcast, a reading from my book from several years ago, the book called Stonewalled,

that digs into a shocking account of certain managers

at CBS News misleading the public in support of President Obama on the Benghazi issue just ahead of the 2012 election.

This is a reading some of you are interested in from my original book, Stonewalled, been several years since I wrote that

one, but this topic came up and some of you were interested in me either publishing it but I thought it might be even easier for me to read it and have you listen

from the chapter called the Cheryl Atkinson Problem under Ben-Gazigate That's where problem under Benghazi Gate.

I should have known something was up

when I received an unsolicited call

from a White House official a few days before the second debate between

President Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney on October 16, 2012. The president was coming off a tough loss in the first

debate after which uncommitted voters by a 46% to 22% margin said Romney won and 56% had an improved opinion of the Republican

candidate. The White House official who called me and I chatted casually about unrelated topics and then he introduced a non sequitur.

The president called Ben Gazzie a terrorist attack the day after in the rose garden he told me.

At the time I hadn't given any thought to whether the president had or hadn't term the

Benghazi assaults as terrorism. The debate on that point had not widely emerged and I was still focused on the State

Department's denial of security requests from Americans in Libya prior to those attacks.

Since I really didn't know what the president had said in the Rose Garden the day after the attacks,

I didn't offer a comment to the White House official on the other end of the phone.

He repeated himself as if to elicit some sort of reaction. He did call it a
