However on the 5th of June 2019 the city's typical summer scene took an unexpected turn.

Despite the preceding days of high temperatures in endless sunshine,

Vancouver was suddenly engulfed by a rainstorm. Seeking shelter from the downpour,

17 year old Nicky Kuhnhousin found herself at a friend's home that night,

accompanied by a few girlfriends.

She had been crashing at her friend's place near Fourth Plain Boulevard for a few weeks now.

Nicky, it was usually the life of the party, seemed unusually quiet. She was

that her friends didn't recognize.
