Okay. Okay, so today on the podcast, our guest is Dr. Tim Ralston, and Dr. Ralston is a professor at Dallas Theological Seminary.

And the reason we asked him to be on the podcast today was because when Sarah and I were

reading the book, Vindicating the Vixens, who was edited by our guest a couple weeks ago,

Sandra Glon, we read the chapter on Mary, the mother of Jesus, and we loved it. And we wanted to have the author of

that chapter on to talk to us about Mary, especially in this season of Christmas and Advent.

And we loved the chapter because it gave us a fresh perspective on Mary and who she is.

And we just thought it would be a great Christmas episode for us to have.

And we want to hear a little bit about you before we start talking about Mary.

So we know you're Canadian from Canada. How did you end up in Dallas

teaching at a seminary? Yeah, well, I grew up in Ontario, west of Toronto, largely, and came down

to Dallas Seminary to do a THM after my university degree, and then went back and pastored for about five years in two different churches in the area.

And I was also given some teaching opportunities at two different seminaries and decided I would pursue a PhD in New Testament studies.

And so I came back to Dallas Seminary in January

of 1988. And literally, the first day on campus, I was immediately called into the Pastoral

Ministries Department, and the second day I was hired to teach. Wow. That's a success story

right there.

But the department chair did not know me from Adam. It was one of the faculty in the department.
