Before we start this episode, I wanted to let you know that Cindy and I have made some

corrections to the very first episode of Hoofbeats we released back in May.

If you haven't listened to it, it's about a young woman who presented with

sudden onset generalized weakness. While all of the clinical data and the final

diagnoses presented in the episode were accurate, we later learned that the hospital course

unfolded a bit differently than how we were initially told. The correct diagnoses

were actually suspected by the ICU team at the time the patient was stepped down to

the floor and the definitive tests were already pending.

After talking again with the clinicians involved in the case, we've gone ahead and posted a corrected

version of that episode.

I think learning from cases is hard enough to begin

with. This is something we talked about in our most recent episode. So Cindy and I just

want to make sure that we're always bringing you fully accurate high quality cases and case discussions

and with that in mind on to this month's episode.
