When Kirstama sacked Lucy Powell from his cabinet seven weeks ago,

he could not have guessed that he'd just thrown a political boomerang,

because in the last hour, she's's back now with her own mandate as his

elected deputy leader. Bridget Philipson received a total of 73,536 votes and Lucy Powell received a total

of 87,407 votes. I can therefore declare that Lucy Powell has been elected as

Deputy Leader of the Labour Party. A huge congratulations. And that comes at the end of a painful

week for the PM. Far from winning in Wales, Labour were pushed into a distant third place at the Kaffili

by-election.

The National Inquiry into grooming gangs is in a state of disarray.

Recriminations over the collapse of the China spy case continue.
