| 0:47.0 | I was talking with someone who was recounting an experience of being out with friends who said, hey, you want to split a beer? |
| 0:56.0 | This person was like, oh my God, are these people crazy? Like why on earth would I split a beer with you? |
| 1:03.0 | What is the point in that? That isn't enough. |
| 1:07.0 | And I will just tell you when she was relating this to me. I mean, I could so see myself having these exact same thoughts. |
| 1:15.0 | And that's what I really want to talk with all of you today is about really understanding why one isn't enough. |
| 1:23.0 | And what is the enough that we're actually after? Now I will just add as an aside, I think that humans do this. |
| 1:32.0 | We often split things as a way to kind of a swage our guilt. |
| 1:37.0 | So it's a question that's often posed to the table and not just with alcohol, right? |
| 1:41.0 | Does everyone want to split a dessert? Do we want to split a bottle of wine? |
| 1:46.0 | It's this kind of unspoken like, hey, if you're going to do it, I will do it too. |
| 1:50.0 | And I always think it's very interesting to think about, well, why is that? |
| 1:55.0 | And also, what happens when someone at the table turns down the request? |
| 2:02.0 | When someone says, you know what, I'm not really into dessert tonight or I'm going to skip the wine. |
| 2:07.0 | Now often, not always, but often, you'll see that the person who posed the question about sharing, |
| 2:14.0 | they will go on to skip the wine or skip the dessert too. |
