I'm Erin Scala and here's our show today. Oh, The impact of biodynamic farming has been great in many of the world's winemaking hubs. Those who don't farm

completely biodinemically have at least heard of it and many sustainable and

organic farmers have incorporated a few elements of biodynamic farming into

their regimen.

But where did the idea of biodynamic farming come from?

Rudolph Steiner was a Renaissance man.

He created his own philosophy, designed architecture, created an art dance warm expression,

bounded schools, wrote plays and books, gave lectures, and ultimately tried to envision a new and better global society

and do what he could to achieve that society.

He also laid down the foundations of biodynamic agriculture

after several concerned farmers approached him,

worried about the future of agriculture in the face of the industrial

revolution.

In reaction to the farmer's concerns, he gave a series of lectures that turned into the foundations

of biodynamic farming.

This all happened later in his career,

long after his philosophic theories

had shaped his frame of thinking.

But the basic idea that a farm was a complete organism came to him much earlier.
