Genesis chapter 2 verses 2 and 3

and on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done and he rested on the seventh

day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it

holy because on it God rested from all his work

that he had done in creation. This is a pretty humbling reminder to see this picture of the God of the universe after creating the world like that that was quite a week

And on the seventh day after creating everything in the universe he rested.

So there's this picture of certainly a dignity given to work and then a dignity given to rest.

And I just, I think about my life, I think about how prone I am to busyness, to run from one thing to the next,

for my mind to always be going, from if I'm not careful just to be so focused on this and that and this and that

that I don't have a rhythm of rest in my life and I'm guessing I'm not alone in that and God is clearly

reminding us with this picture in the very beginning of the Bible of the value of rest.

And so I just want to encourage you amidst the business I can only imagine in your life,

as in my own life.

I mean, you talk to people today, it's like, hey, how are things going?

People are like, oh, things are busy, they're crazy, this and that.

So in the middle of that, God designs for you and I to have rest like physical rest and then as we walk through the

rest of scripture we can't dive into this all right now but ultimately a

spiritual rest in him a rest in him from all of our

working because we know that we live by grace ultimately by the grace of

Christ on the cross for us. So we pray, God, help us to work hard.

Lord, help us to work in a way that brings glory to your name.
