I get a shotgun put against me up in the mountains just north of Syria.

It was such a like dark fear where it felt like you're playing hide and seek and someone just opens the bushes and they can tag you or they don't have to day like they found you it's up to you whether you lose the game or not and so before I was out of the knife point in Panama and when you're held up a knife point you're kind of gaming you're like okay what can I do to get out of this? What can I grab on to?

We're going to use it to defend myself. When you get the gun pointed against you when it's pressing against your back you're like it's darkness I hope they

don't pull the trigger that's it.

Hey friends welcome back to the Light Watkins show'm Light Watkins, and I love to interview ordinary folks just like you and me

who've taken extraordinary leaps of faith in the direction of their path, their purpose,

or what they've identified as their mission in life and in doing so they've been able to

positively impact and inspire the lives of many other people who've either heard about their story

or who witnessed them in action or people who've directly

benefited from their work. And if there's one thing that I've learned from

conducting hundreds of these interviews is that those defining moments, the ones where we choose to follow our heart over

what's comfortable, are what create the most significant changes in our life.

It's in these moments that we step into our true selves and in doing so we often end up

inspiring those around us in ways that we can't even imagine. Today's guests

completed the incredible feat of walking around the globe.

When Tom Tursich was 17 years old, he got the idea to circumnavigate the Earth by

foot, an adventure that would take at least seven years to complete.

And after saving up money over the next few years, on the day before he turned 26,

Tom set out by foot from his home in southern New Jersey where he was living with his parents and he embarked upon this epic adventure.

And as you can imagine, Tom encountered all kinds of interesting and crazy obstacles along the way. But more than that, he learned a lot about

himself because he was walking with himself in his thoughts, an average of 14 miles a day, pushing a baby stroller with all of his belongings in it,

down throughout the Americas and then across Europe and into Africa and then throughout Asia and then the Pacific Northwest and then across America and finally back to New Jersey.
