I worked a homicide case and it was the 10-year-old here in South Carolina.

And he admitted to using a 9mm, which was not the caliber that killed him.

But I asked him kind of a hypothetical.

I said, is there any reason why if we, because he said he never shot a rifle?

I said, is there any reason why this had happened about 24 to 48 hours prior to me speaking with him? I said, is there any reason why if we used a gunshot residue test that could test for rifle versus pistol propellant, is there any reason why on your hands it would show that you shot a rifle in the last 48 hours? Now, this was just kind of a ploy, right? I don't think there's any GSR that can differentiate, but he didn't know that. And he said, like, that look of like, and then, oh, you know what? Actually, I went out with my buddies about three days ago and we went out and shot some rifle rounds. And then getting into the who, what, when, where, why, he just went downhill

from there. And eventually he came in on it as far as he was the individual that shot.
