Summary

This week, we are broadcasting aboard Carnival Esctasy for Carnival LIVE. In case you're unfamiliar with Carnival LIVE, it's a concert series of sorts held aboard Carnival Cruise Line Fun Ships. The artist flies to the port, performs on board the ship and disembarks before the cruise ship leaves for the next port of call. On this sailing we got to hear award winning country artist Martina McBride, who is just one of the many acts performing as part of Carnival LIVE.

Hey, what's up? I'm Doug Parker. We are aboard Carnival Ecstasy on a four-night sailing out of Miami, Florida. We're going to head Key West in Cosmell. And when we get to Cosmell, we're going to check out Carnival Live. It's their new music experience here with Carnival Cruise Lines. Martina McBride is going to perform in Cosamel.

And I have to say, before we did the sailing, we were in New York City, about three or four

0:43.1

months ago, where Carnival actually announced Carnival Live, and I thought it was pretty cool.

Joining me is my guest co-host today, Amadeus.

0:51.3

And Amadeus, before you actually got on the sailing, and just from what I was telling you, did you have any preconceived notions or what did you think it was going to be? Well, I was really looking forward to it. I've sailed on Carnival many times, and I love music, especially live music, and now there's going to be even more of it. So as I walk through the halls and going to different bars, I'm really looking forward looking forward to some you know, modern music. It's cool because, you know, you think of Carnival Live. You think of just music, musical concerts happening in the main show theater while we're in ports. But it goes beyond that because it's also, they brought Carnival Live to each and every fun ship with the bands, playing by the casino, playing in the main atrium, all around the ship. So it's really cool there. What did you think of the music walking around the ship listening on? Did you notice much of a difference? Because I know you sell Carnival quite a few times. Yeah, I definitely did. You know, like you said, right outside the casino, there was that live band playing modern music and down in the atrium. And I love karaoke and live karaoke is the best karaoke.

It's so much fun to see someone get up and actually be the star in a band. It's just a great experience. Before we get to Carnival Live, we're going to talk with the cruise director, Robin. He is from England and he joins us right now. What's up, Robin? Robin. Good morning, Doug. How are you? Good. Where are you from? I come from England. I come from a city called Cambridge. Most people have heard of it because it's famous for its university, which I didn't go to. But yeah, it's a beautiful place. It's a nice, a relaxing place to go back to after the rat race of the ship. Last night was my first time experiencing Carnival Live. Have you got to see Carnival Live

2:17.5

prior to this? Yeah, this was our third Carnival Live event just here on board The Ecstasy. We

2:22.8

have already had Foreigner and Ario Speedwagon last night, Martina McBride, all sold out, all very

2:28.7

successful concerts and all different in their own way, and all in a good way. For our listeners

2:33.5

who may not be familiar with Carnival Live, can you kind of break that down for us?

2:37.0

The Carnival Live concert series is something that has been in there, been being planned for quite some time.

2:43.2

And basically what's happening now is they're using a set number of carnival ships as a venue for different artists to be able to reach out to a different kind of audience.

2:52.1

So there's a whole ton of different artists on the bill and there's more being added all the

2:56.0

time. Basically the idea is that once you come on the cruise you have this opportunity to see

3:00.9

a famous group or a famous artist for a very good value and it all takes place on board the ship. It's just 20 bucks for the tickets and for a very good value and it's all takes place on board the ship and it's just 20 bucks for the

3:10.4

tickets and for a general admission ticket plus the guests have an option to spend a little bit

3:14.4

extra a hundred bucks and they get to actually have a VIP meet and greet experience with that artist

3:19.3

as well which I think is a pretty special opportunity you can't buy that in the real world

3:23.2

normally when you go to a concert on land if you want to have an autograph from someone, you have to just fight through the crowds as they're running to their tour bus or whatever. But here, it's a champagne reception where you get to have a quick, you know, hello with them, and you get a picture which is taken away as a souvenir and you get that VIP seating as well which is a

3:41.2

fantastic opportunity for for that kind of price you know it really can't be beat it's a great idea
