Well, guys, welcome to the Hunt Pack Country podcast in this special edition, kind of a series, if you will, where we are celebrating five years of the podcast by picking five of our favorite episodes from our time.

So again, this isn't necessarily the best of.

I don't know that we could pick the best five episodes, but for

Stephen and I personally, we wanted to pick five of our favorites. That list definitely would not

be complete without Paul, the Elknot, Medell. We have had him on the show numerous times,

as you'll hear about in this episode, and also we mentioned

some of the previous episodes he was a guest. But Paul's enthusiasm for hunting, for elk

specifically, is just so infectious. And you pair that with a guy who has spent an unbelievable

amount of time, not only hunting elk, but also just studying them in the off

season by spending time in the field and being around elk and just understanding them

from observation and years and years of experience.

And when he shares that that enthusiasm and that knowledge come together in a unique

way that is unmatched.

And so he is definitely one of our favorite guests to talk to.

A few of the things that I love personally and have learned from Paul is that when it comes to calling elk, it's more than just making noise.

It's not even just calling.

It's calling and listening. You have to listen to what elk are saying,

listen to their inflection, if you will, and understand the circumstance, and then try to best know how to call from there.

So it's a two-way street. It's not just broadcasting,

bugle, bugle, bugle, bugle, it's really trying to interpret a situation and look at factors like,

is this bull with cows, what time of year is it, what type of pressure has they, have they seen,

and really understanding how to best approach situations with other factors. So yeah, it's it's one of
