Summary

We widen the lens on worship by looking past radio formulas to find biblical truth in Red Clay Strays’ “On My Knees.” We tie kneeling, anxiety, and gratitude to Psalm 95, Philippians 4, and Ephesians 2, and show how grace, not works, fuels true praise. • redefining worship beyond contemporary Christian music • the posture of kneeling as reverence and humility • honest burdens of bills, anxiety, and temptation • casting cares on God and praying with thanksgiving • salvation by grace alone, no...

Welcome to the Daily Blade. The Word of God is described as the sword of the spirit, the primary spiritual weapon in the Christian's armor against the forces of evil. Your hosts are Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson, and they stand ready to equip men for the fight. Let's sharpen up.

Welcome to a new week of the Daily Blade. All right. In my last batch, I refer to a sermon

0:24.8

series that Jobi did at the Church of 1122 earlier this year called worship is war. So in the

0:30.4

series, he looked at the scriptural truce that could be found in the lyrics of some of the

0:33.9

most famous hymns of all time. And so it's very similar to what we did on the Daily Blade week 32 and early August of this year. So that's episodes in 154 through 158. But I talked

0:43.5

about how when most people in modernity think of quote unquote worship music, what they're actually

0:49.2

thinking about is what's called contemporary Christian music, which is just a specific genre of music that

0:55.0

you would expect to hear on any generic Christian radio station.

0:58.1

So just think Christian Top 40 are what would be played by some band at some megachurch, right?

1:03.0

So that's what you would expect to hear.

1:04.6

Now, if you like that genre of music, then it works out great for you.

1:09.0

But if you hear that kind of music and it just doesn't agree with

1:12.3

your kind of artistic palette, I guess you could say, then it puts you in a weird spot, again,

1:16.9

because that's what most people consider to be worship music. Now, as opposed to just pointing at

1:23.3

guys and saying that there's something wrong with them if they don't like it or want to sing

1:26.8

that kind of music, I want to help you guys out. So what I did in that batch a week ago or so

1:32.3

of episodes was an attempt to broaden your definition of worship music to include a bunch of

1:38.6

different genres of music that would not typically get lumped into that category. And that was

1:43.3

really helpful. I heard from you guys.

1:45.0

It was really helpful to many of you. So I decided to do another run of episodes this week with songs

1:49.2

from different genres where we look at the biblical themes and truce from the lyrics. Today we're

1:54.0

doing a song called On My Knees from the 2024 album made by these moments by one of my favorite
