Miss Leslie Ann Jones. And Leslie Ann, you've been winding a few people up this week, haven't you, on the old social media there?

I mean, you know, what are you getting aggressive about?

Oh, dear.

I mean, there's nothing aggressive about me, as you well know, Mr. Perry.

Your dear friend Jeremy Vine, he posts quite regularly on Twitter seeking opinions for his shows so that he can generate

conversation which is absolutely a fine thing to do and he was talking about Novak Djokovic

asking questions about Novak's attitude to the vaccine and so on and I posted something very facetious. That was just me having a laugh,

you know, about, I think the suggestion I was making was that he should put the great game

of tennis ahead of his own health. Obviously, that's a joke, right? So the barrage of filth and

abuse and viciousness that I received in return from many, many complete strangers.

I found actually quite shocking because, first of all, we used to be a nation with a sense of

humour. And that sense of humour appears to have deserted us. And I think it's the thing that

saved us in our darkest hours as a country during

two world wars and so on. You know, we've always maintained that almost black sense of humor,

managing to find a grain of something to laugh at in any situation. We are the nation who laugh at

funerals. You know, we managed to turn anything

into something that we can laugh at. And I fear that we are losing our ability to laugh at

ourselves. And that's a very dangerous place for us to be. Well, I don't think we are. You see,

this has all happened since social media came up, and in particular

Twitter. Anybody now who wants to be vicious and nasty and misogynistic, because I don't get
