| 0:46.0 | I find that it's usually discussed one of two ways. |
| 0:50.0 | The first is that we tend to romanticize what's in our glass. And so it looks a lot like conversations about the taste. |
| 0:59.0 | You know, is it sharp or sweet or smokey or bitter? Is it assertive or citrusy? |
| 1:05.0 | Maybe you'd start hearing people talking about hints of caramel or fig or vanilla. |
| 1:10.0 | We're talking about the body of a drink, the nose. |
| 1:13.0 | So we really will romanticize kind of the unique aspects of a specific drink. |
| 1:19.0 | Maybe you're talking about the growing process or the climate or the soil or the region that the drink is from or the type of grape. |
| 1:26.0 | Or you're talking about the aging process, right? The type of container or barrel that it was aged in. |
| 1:31.0 | A lot of that goes along with how we romanticize what's in the glass. |
| 1:36.0 | Now, I find that the flip side of this, especially when people are trying to change to their relationship with alcohol, |
| 1:43.0 | is they go all the way to the place of no, no, no, no, I'm not romanticizing it. I'm demonizing it. |
| 1:49.0 | So you focus all about the harmful effects of what's in your glass. |
| 1:53.0 | And how it's bad for you. It's bad for your brain. It's bad for your body. It's hurting your liver. It's hurting your heart. |
| 1:58.0 | It's wrecking your sleep. It's impairing your judgment. |
| 2:01.0 | Right. We go to this real place of like everything about alcohol is bad and it's a poison and it's toxic and it's evil. |
