So welcome to the podcast. this is Douglas Wilson. I am Douglas Wilson. Welcome

aboard good to have you here. Always appreciate it when you come. So I want to

talk a little I talk about culture and politics a lot. I'd like to change it up a little bit

and in this first segment I want to talk a little bit about

Talk a little autobiographically and about my writing life and about a particular subset of my writing life and about a particular

subset of my writing life.

And that subset has to do with the fiction I write. I'm not going to go into all

the fiction I've written, but I'm going to use some of the fiction I've written but I'm going to I'm going to use some of the some of the fiction that

Canon Press has been publishing and talk a little bit about how those books come into

come into being. This is something I call I call writing from the

hook. So writing from the hook. So what's the the first serious novel I've written some fiction stuff for kids but the first serious

Well, and when I say serious, I don't mean serious.

It was sort of a dark comedy.

So... It was sort of a dark comedy.

So, serious has different meanings, right?

By serious, I don't mean a long face.

By serious, I mean a book for grown-ups.

Of course, you can write for kids and have it be serious.

Never mind.

So my point here is writing from the hook.
