The voice you just heard was that of Kerry Tolson, a 2004 track and field Olympian in the 1500 meters,

and multiple-time champion in both cross-country and track and field.

Carrie was such a joy to speak with

today. She gave us such insight about her mother and the role she played in Carrie becoming a successful

elite runner. She credits her mother for her drive. And her father who helped her to train her brain

from an early age to help her become so gosh darn mentally tough.

I've met and competed against a lot of Minnesota runners over the years, and they all seem to have something special about them.

I don't know what they're doing over there in Minnesota, but whatever it is, it's working.

In all seriousness, Carrie seems to be a very happy go lucky gal.

And she admits that that's one of the secrets to her success.
