Yeah, I mean, this is the season for returning to one's studies.

I mean, everyone knows that.

Oh, yeah, there's some vacation is just about over.

Somewhat reluctantly on some people's parts, we know that.

But I thought it would be appropriate to issue a little reminder about why education is a good idea

an example of why it's helpful to not be stupid in fact I was I was at my daughter's

High School graduation and Robert B. Parker, the author was there and he gave a wonderful five minute speech.

First of all he said I got to do this quick because I look stupid in this outfit.

And one of the things he mentioned...

don't I know it there I was a couple of weeks ago reading my Dave Barry and he had a little column about cars.

The automobiles are, I'm going to read part of it.

Automobiles are a mixed blessing.

On the one hand, they provide us with benefits that are undreamed of in the horse and buggy days.

For example, any time we get hungry, we can hop into the car, pull up to a drive-throughru window of a fast food restaurant, buy a hot meal,

spill coffee on our thighs, and sue a major corporation for millions of dollars.
