The first tissue bank opened in 1949, and by the 1980s, there were over 300 banks.

In 1993, the FDA took over-regulating the sector.

Every year, we do over a million of these allograph tissue transplants,

but we still have 21 Americans that die every day waiting for that transplant. There are over 120,000 people on that waiting list waiting for those tissues. 600 of those are children under the

age of five. With so many people in need of these tissue transplants, we shouldn't be surprised that this

created a market for body snatching.
