Hello, I'm Alicia McCarthy, and this is today in Parliament from BBC Radio 4 for Monday the 24th of February,

where the Foreign Secretary sets out new sanctions against Russia

and attacks the Kremlin's record when it comes to keeping its

international promises. This is foreign policy by lies. And we must respond by being true to

ourselves and provide the support Ukraine needs to stay strong. While the Liberal Democrats say

the UK must step up and take the lead in Europe.

In parroting the Kremlin's false claims that Ukraine started this war and that President

Zelensky is a dictator, President Trump has shown that the US can't be trusted to support

Ukraine's defence.

Also on this programme, calls to protect young people from the dangers

of social media. Many adults fall for these things too. So how on earth do we expect our children

not to? But first, on the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Foreign

Secretary has announced a new round of sanctions against Moscow and its

allies. The action comes as the Prime Minister prepares to meet the US President in Washington

on Thursday. Donald Trump has sparked controversy in recent weeks with his comments about the war,

most recently accusing Sekeir Stama and France's President Macron of doing nothing to stop the conflict

and calling Ukraine's president, Vladimir Zelensky, a dictator.

Making a statement to MPs on their first day back after a week's break,

the Foreign Secretary David Lammy said today marked three years of Ukrainian courage in resisting what he called

Russia's brutal, illegal, unprovoked invasion.
