Whenever I say the phrase "Purity Culture is Rape Culture," my DMs and comments explode with angry people asking why I'm attacking people who decide to practice abstinence.
I thought I'd explain what I mean when I say this phrase in this short video.
Purity Culture is much bigger than the mere concept of abstinence – it's a toxic CULTURE that generally places the weight of all sexual violation or perceived wrongdoing on the shoulders of women while alleviating all responsibility on the man's part.
