Summary

Linda Hazzard was a doctor, but not in the traditional sense you've come to expect. She received no degree, but was able to practice through a loophole in the state of Washington. Linda specialized in fasting diets, but again, not in the sense you've heard or expect. Hers was a bit more extreme and led to the deaths of many people.

0:57.3	All right. We're going to go to Oliah, Washington. It is a very small community. So in your mind, think Seattle.
1:04.1	Travel down the river. So it's like a river that's not on the ocean side. And if you blink, you're going to miss it.
1:11.9	This town's history is sparse and it's vague, but it was figuratively put on the map when a
1:18.8	pseudo-doctor began her medical practice there in the 1900s.
1:23.0	When I say it literally put it on the map, it did.
1:27.1	Now, her name is Linda Hazard, and she murdered about 19 people.
1:31.9	And those people, while not asking for death, they went willingly and stayed under her medical care.
1:38.6	And we're going to see many of the town residents, and their families were begging them, hey, this isn't right. Come home.
1:47.6	We'll get you help. So setting the scene here, we're in the 1900s, in the early 1900s, and people then were not too unlike the people today.
1:57.9	We're talking about being into physical appearance, curing terminal illness, doing
2:02.8	what you can to try to prolong your life. Granted, we know that science was not as advanced then.
