This week we're playing Swords Without Master.

Swords is a simple and flexible approach to role playing inspired by stories like Conan the

barbarian.

Dice are rolled primarily to determine the mood of description rather than the success of a character.

Play has a procedural ceremony to it that reverently and faithfully recreates the feeling

of old school sword and sorcery stories. I think swords is a game that one has to play more than once to truly master.

Our group definitely made some mistakes in our play-through, but I think the story we came away with demonstrates how resilient swords is.

Even played imperfectly, it still captures the magic and wonder of the thing it seeks to emulate.

For this episode, we're joined by a stellar cast including Decemberist guitarist Chris Funk.

It was a thrill to play this game with a member of my actual favorite band.

The Decemberist's new album, I'll Be Your Girl, is set to release in March.
