Usamah Andrabi and Emma then parse through the ongoing failure of Democrats’ evident disassociation from the working-class identity that had carried their coalition for decades, refusing to run campaigns that aren’t geared around unifying a mythical centrist coalition (that also includes Republicans and Progressives) driven by celebrities and billionaires and grounded in diet-right-wing politics, and emphasizing abstract economic conditions over the material, lived reality with which everyday Americans struggle. They also touch on the major drag of Harris’ commitment to the overwhelmingly unpopular status quo under Biden, and unpack the future of a fight for a Democratic party that actually fights for and with the working class.

And in the Fun Half: Emma is joined by Brandon Sutton and Matt Binder as they unpack their election reflections, tackle how Biden set up Harris to fail, and highlight some major distinctions between Obama’s winning campaign and Dems’ last few major failures.
