Summary

Three stories from Korean folklore! On the first, a boy loves collecting stories, but no one really taught him proper story care, so they went the way of so many carnival goldfish. On the second, a young man protests his unfair (and kind of murdery) working conditions...by turning his boss's lunchbox into a toilet. On the third, there are people, there are cows, and no one can tell the two apart.

The creature is the ziz, and it wrecks cities by accident.

This is a podcast where we tell stories from mythology and folklore. Some are incredibly

0:46.7

popular stories you might think you know, but with surprising origins. Others are stories that

0:51.0

might be new to you, but are definitely worth listening. As I said at the top of the episode,

0:55.6

there are three stories from Korean folklore this week. They aren't really related to anything

0:59.6

historical, so no need for a ton of backstory. We'll just jump right in with the kid who likes

1:05.3

stories. As all kids do, it just kind of matters what you do with the stories after you hear them.

1:25.0

What's he doing? The dad asked. The mom smiled, oh you know, that's a story back.

1:30.0

Story back. Yeah, you know how we, a super rich family of merchants, only have one child

1:37.0

and do it on him, telling him stories and stuff, the mom said. The dad nodded.

1:42.4

Well, I just got him a bag, and whenever he hears a new story, he saves it and puts it in the bag.

1:49.6

Oh, that's cute. Yeah, I guess he is always asking people to tell him a story when he meets them.

1:55.9

The dad said. Then, huh. But really though, what is he filling up that bag with? It's

2:05.4

actually looking kind of full. The mom looked to the small bag at her seven year old side that was

2:11.2

already puffing up like a balloon. The boy was pressing something down into the bag.

2:18.2

Wow, yeah, really putting those seams to work. The mother said, yeah, what is he putting in that bag?

2:23.9

She looked to her husband. I mean, though, as a counterpoint, he's quiet. Probably not hurting anybody.
