This is episode 234 of the Swallier Pride Podcast. And today's guest is Julia Tuckman. She is the author of the book D'Sphasia Naturally. She is a disabled writer and photographer who has had dysphagia since 1995 due to post viral damage affecting her neurologically.

Originally thinking it was an allergic reaction, she assumed it would go away and when it did not, she went to the hospital for help where they did all the swallow tests.

Her swallow showed very little motility and food getting stuck and because she could not

tolerate other limited foods available in the mid 90s, she had to
