Hello everyone. Welcome to Luke's English podcast. How are you? I know that you can't respond to that but I'm going to ask you anyway just because it's polite really

How are you? Oh, that's great. I know that you didn't actually reply but just social convention dictates that I have to respond in a positive way.

How are you? I'm fine. Oh great. It would be, I suppose it's normal to say, how are you?

Oh, you know, I'm a bit under the weather.

Oh, really? Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.

Okay. Normally when you say, how are you? The response is just to say, I'm fine,

thanks, even if you are having the worst day of your life.

It's true, isn't it? All right, how's it going? Oh, fine.

Hmm. I suppose we sometimes say things like, oh, it could be worse.

Or, uh, not not bad I suppose all things

considered that sort of thing anyway welcome to another episode of Luke's English

podcast and I'm assuming that you're fine. I mean I assume that you're

fine because you're listening to the podcast and this is a world in which

everything is basically okay isn't it isn't it? It should be anyway.

So I'm just assuming that you're already in a good mood just because you're listening to another episode of this

this award-winning podcast. I'm not going to go on about the awards much anymore I'm just blowing my own

trumpet have I used that phrase before I think I have I must have done in

fact I did I remember doing it in the music idioms episode remember that from

way back in the the archives of Luke's English
