Gailam Bottle Room here at Card Talk Club. Yeah and I wanted to wish you a happy

new year my dear brother and I have to say one thing you don't look at any better

this year than you did last but do I look worse that's the key that's the key

you know you don't look worse if I could be frozen isn't it interesting how

gradually you look worse you know it's been re-rappied in your case well I mean

I happen to see a picture of myself that was taken 20 years ago what a

remarkable transformation how does it happen how something can happen so

slowly the ravages of time profoundly well anyway I don't believe on a

different note we thought that since this is the beginning of a new year that we

would do something to welcome our new listeners I mean you know people who may

have joined us in the last three to five years folks who may not be in on all the

Card Talk lore or the inside jokes that my brother laughs at we kept a week

yeah so just before we show lots of things like that that's right so just

before the show our esteemed producer Dougie handed us a small pile I had

what is he steamed about anyway we didn't do anything to him a small pile of

sealed envelopes that's what that is and inside don't touch them look at them

inside each one of these envelopes is a phraser expression or reference heard

frequently on our show and as we open each one of these we will try we'll do

our best to explain where it comes from and perhaps even why it sends my
