A few doors south of William Crease's deadly dose of syphilis.

A few doors west of Susan Latine's Stockholm Syndrome.

A few doors up from Joe Ghanain's drug-fuelled murder spree.

And a few steps from the hobo tax collector.

A 23 Greek street currently stands a five-story office block with the shell of the

pleasant lady Zhang Bing's Chinese

street food store below, and the stench of avocados and falafel coming from the production

companies above.

And with a horrible pebble-dash façade, like a statue's been sick, a set of nasty white windows reminiscent of a 1980s comprehensive.

And its graffiti-covered wall reeking of wee-wee.

This building is so ugly.

It looks like an architect sat on a box of Macaano and thought,

Yeah, that'll do.

Back in 1904, a 23 Greek street stood a provisions shop called Deerdens, ran by the Dearden family.

And above, in a modest three-story terrace, was their home with space for several lodgers.

On Sunday the 31st of July, 1904, at roughly 12.30 a.m.

A fight broke out near the doorway of 20th degree street between two young men, Edward Devaney and Raphael Chikolino.

Amidst a melee of fists and drunken yells in a brawl which risked one man's execution and another man's death.

Although its many witnesses spoke of the shouts that they heard and the blows they had seen,
