0:30.0	I want to thank you all for taking this journey through the life of Elliott Smith with us.
0:40.4	We've gone through Smith's background in episode one, and in episode two,
0:44.4	toured his last home in Echo Park, California. We've gotten a lot of really great feedback,
0:49.2	and we really appreciate it. As you know, this is a sensitive subject, and we're doing our best
0:53.6	to explore it in a way that is both thought-provoking and respectful. On this episode,
0:59.1	we're diving into maybe some of the more controversial thoughts surrounding Elliott Smith,
1:04.7	so please listen along to the House of Elliott Smith, part three, Smith's death and legacy.
1:10.7	I also want to make a very quick correction to episode one. Smith did not give up drinking on his
1:15.5	birthday. It was actually weeks later. He was in a sober lifestyle when he performed at Red Fast
1:20.8	in Salt Lake City. I want to give an update on what happened on the 21st at the Elliott Smith
1:25.4	House, as promised, and the update is not much. The 21st was the 19th anniversary of Elliott Smith's
1:32.5	death, and we were planning on stopping by to see if anyone came to the House to pay their respects.
1:37.8	Ren, the current tenant we talked to in episode two, was under the weather, so we ended up not going
1:42.8	over there. But she told us she didn't receive any gifts or items at her front door, as she had in
1:47.8	past years. Of course, leaving random gifts at a private residence is creepy, but it also made me
1:53.8	quite honestly a little sad. Is Smith's memory waning from the public consciousness?
1:59.1	His fanbase, losing passion as more years come between the time he actively made music and the
2:04.0	present? But the answer, as I did more research for the specific episode, is resounding no.
2:09.5	People are still writing music, think pieces about Smith. His biggest fanboards,
2:14.0	sweet Adeline, has over 6,000 active members, and even the feedback we've gotten from this
2:19.0	little series. We know from all of this that Smith's legacy is vibrant and alive.
