Oh, hello. Welcome to this fame online event in which me, Richard Herring, will be talking

about this book, Elmari, the last 100 years. Give or take and all that. With the author,

a man who needs no introduction. But I'm going to give him one anyway. It's a comedian,

character comedian. He studied history at Teddy Hall at Oxford University. I met him in the music

room of Teddy Hall in 1988, the first time I ever saw him. And that is now part of history itself.

In 1988, that's a terrifying prospect. He's the host of, we have ways of making you talk,

the history podcast with James Holland. And I used to, he's done a thing called the pub,

pub landline didn't really catch on. So, will you please go? The amazing Elmari, ladies and gentlemen,

there he is. Thank you, Richard. It's Elmari. It was not 1987. It's even longer ago than you

think. Yeah, I'm afraid. And it's that meeting that made me get into comedy.

Was we used to rehearse our sketch show in that room? I just remember you

was bringing your drum kit. Yeah, we were coming in long, straggly hair,

which you're back towards back to hair. Yeah, back to nice to see you with hair. Yeah,

it's been a while. It's a weird thing when you could have hair to not have hair.

Well, yeah, yes. I don't sort of want to dwell on it, but I mean, the thing is, I was meant to go

on tour in March. Yeah. March the 21st, we were going back out again. And what I tend to do is

with the clippers cut my hair the night of the gig, like 10 minutes before I have to go on,

because I really, really, I know I've got hair, I really hate having to cut it. And so I thought,

well, let's see what happens now. So this is, I've not touched this since this whole day,

Barclay began. Yeah. So it's nice having hair. I have hair. So it's very,
