It said to be a spirit that resides over churches, protecting them.

When I was young growing up in Denmark, we kids were always told not to stray too far from

the house to play and to avoid going outside at night to play if we could.

My parents were the worrying type.

We lived in a small village that had a number of churches, a couple of them new, while many

of them were older.

Older than even my grandparents.

We actually lived quite close to one that had a lot of aspects that me and my friends loved.

There was an old graveyard there that made for a great and creepy game of hide and seek.

And there were sturdy vines up the north side of the church you could climb and get right

to the rooftop.

Sure it was dangerous, but we were reckless kids who knew better than to rat on each other.
