Hello, I'm Sean Curran, and this is today in Parliament from BBC Radio 4 for Monday the

23rd of June, when the Foreign Secretary David Lame called on Iran to engage in talks about its

nuclear programme. This is a perilous moment in the Middle East, Madam Deputy Speaker.

Ways of strikes between Israel and Iran have now lasted for 10 days.

But first, the Foreign Secretary David Lamy has confirmed that work is underway to bring British nationals stranded in Israel back to the UK.

I can confirm to the House that a Royal Air Force A400 has flown in to Tel Aviv and taken 63 British nationals

and their dependents to Cyprus from where they will be brought home this evening.

Further flights will follow in the coming days, security allowing.

He made that announcement as he delivered a common statement following

this weekend's American airstrikes on three nuclear sites in Iran. David Lamy said the UK

hadn't been involved in the attacks but had long-standing concerns about Iran's nuclear program.

My message for Tehran was clear.

Take the off-ramp, dial this thing down,

and negotiate with the United States seriously and immediately.

The alternative is an even more destructive and far-reaching conflict

which could have unpredictable consequences.
