I would say woke up to this point has won the day.

It's part of the establishment.

Corporations have adopted it now.

I actually thought that humor would win out in the end, but it is remarkably resistant

to criticism.

And again, like the Maoist youth that rebelled in the 60s against their elders for

not being radical enough, these people have are merciless and they have no sense of humor.

I talked to you in New York City where you publish Harper's magazine and do lots of your

own writing as well, of course.

And in some ways that was an entirely different era.

It was BC before COVID, before the shutdowns and lots of the craziness that we're all

just coming through now.

So I want to really talk to you about whether you think things have changed, whether

you think the problems of our culture have worsened or improved over those few years

and in the post COVID post lockdown era, I guess I want to start off with a broad question
