But let's talk about the things you need to do to show up as the best version of yourself.

First, I want to address something that I think causes confusion with a lot of people, and that's the difference between motivation and discipline.

Motivation is a feeling, discipline is a decision.

Contrary to popular belief, we don't actually control how we feel. Now, we control how we choose to respond to our feelings and emotions, but we don't control how we feel,

which means motivation as a feeling is going to ebb and flow.

And you don't have control over it.

Compared to the average human beings walking the earth, I imagine you guys skewed more towards

being motivated individuals. I know I do. But not every person in this room is motivated

every moment of every day. And if you only choose to perform when you're feeling motivated,

then by definition you will be inconsistent. So we can't rely on motivation.
