Hello and welcome to the spike podcast I'm Fraser Myers and back with me as ever we have

0:05.2

Spikes editor Tom Slater. Hello phrase. Coming up on today's show we'll be talking about

0:09.7

the coronation of King Charles, the downfall of Bud Light, and George Osborne's mad

0:16.4

and miserable plan to ban smoking.

0:20.4

So the eyes of the world this weekend will be on the coronation of King Charles in London.

Tom, for such a big occasion such as this it does feel as if the mood is a little bit

0:35.7

damp there hasn't been that much excitement or anticipation that's the sense I'm getting

0:40.2

at least I think that's right I mean you know we might be made to eat our

1:20.2

I think what monarchists are going to have to sort of reckon with if they want to is the fact that

1:25.1

whilst many of them felt that they were kind of riding high particularly in the wake of the Queen's

1:28.6

death because it kind of reasserted the institution, its traditions, its power and so on, that a lot of the monarchy's popularity

1:35.6

in recent years rested on the popularity of the Queen herself and now with Charles,

1:40.4

someone who's been a much more controversial figure is is about, I think, the fourth or fifth,

1:43.7

most popular royal is it currently.
