Did you know that it's considered a crime punishable by law for women and girls to share menstrual

products in prison? Did you know that incarcerated women and girls use socks, mattress stuffing,

and ripped sheets while menstruating? And did you know that formerly incarcerated women are two

times as likely to experience homelessness and unemployment than men? Run entirely on crowd

funding and online giving, the Thurman Perry Foundation offers scholarships, public health

resources, and housing relief to women impacted by incarceration. In one year, they have donated

over 70,000 organic cotton and chemical-free menstrual products to prisons and jails. They've

also awarded tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships across the U.S., and provided housing

assistance to formerly incarcerated mothers. This August for National Black Philanthropy Month,

the Thurman Perry Foundation will be partnering with Drew Holiday and the Milwaukee Bucks and his

wife, Lauren Holiday, two-time Olympic gold medalist and FIFA World Cup champion for the Thurman

Perry Foundation's hashtag Black August campaign. Through the entire month of August, the Drew and

Lauren Holiday Social Impact Fund will be matching donations given to the Thurman Perry Foundation

to address the human rights violations experienced by women and girls through the carceral system.

95% of all funds raised will go directly to currently incarcerated women, formerly incarcerated

and the daughters of anyone who has experienced incarceration in an ongoing effort to fund scholarships

through the PeriSecond Chances Scholarship, also to prevent reproductive ailments via the Girl

Code Initiative and provide housing assistance to formerly incarcerated mothers through their
