Summary

I recently got an email from Shameless Mama Megan about her experience taking a stand against sexual abuse against children that is happening in the LDS church. Megan shares how she stood up for herself and her beliefs even though her entire family did not have her back. She stood up through tears and discomfort. She used her voice even when it was shaky. She didn’t back down, even when that would have been the easiest way out. Megan’s story is a powerful example of how practicing using your voice can change your life. Megan identifies herself as an introvert and a typically quiet person. But now she is also a marcher, a truth teller, an advocate, and a podcast celeb (after thousands of people hear her story here!)  Thank you for letting me share your story, Megan. Your voice matters. Your voice is NEEDED. Keep speaking, sister. It only gets more powerful, life-changing, and life-giving from here. Listen in to hear Megan’s full story that is guaranteed to light a fire in you this week. Then, will take you through 4 ways to build your own stage, just like Megan did. I will also give you 10 warnings around what to expect when you build your stage, so you aren’t surprised when your knees shake – and you can look forward to the exhilaration that comes with owning your voice. Hello, shameless moms. So happy to be here with you. I'm recording this a few days in advance

1:04.3

of it going live as usual and my house is being painted. So, you know, I thought I should wait

1:09.4

till like there's a perfect time with the painters doing their things so, like, we won't have disruption and there won't be

1:14.1

background noise. But then I decided that's silly. Like, it's silly to pretend that I'm perfectionistic

1:18.8

about this, because that's the old me. I spent the first 20 years of my life being really

1:22.9

perfectionistic. And the last 22 years, not so much. So you might hear some ladders clanging and that kind of

1:29.9

background noise. I was laughing. I was on an interview doing someone else's podcast earlier this

1:34.9

week and they were talking about how they could edit out like any imperfections. And I was like,

1:38.8

oh, please don't bother. I'm not about presenting as perfect. And I don't care if a dog's barking in the background. And

1:45.5

like, that's just about like shamelessly unapologetically getting the stuff done that needs to get

1:50.1

done. And it doesn't need to burgl be perfect or pretty because sometimes it just, it can be messy.
